Most F1 fans, at least here in the UK, know of Jim Bamber`s cartoons. With his unique blend of wit and wisdom he draws the funny side out of all sorts of seemingly humourless F1 incidents.
His cartoon character has become his trade-mark and in tribute to the guys he sees as the un-sung heroes of the sport, the pit-lane mechanics, he has produced a range of collectable figures based on the character, which benefits The Grand Prix Mechanics Charitable Trust with a royalty on every sale.
All the F1 teams were quick to support the initiative and so the collection features editions of all 11 teams on the grid. Jim, commenting on the teams` support, said “ It was great to get all the teams to agree. They might fight like cat and dog a lot of the time but projects like this show they have a heart and that is in the right place ! “
The latest range, titled `Bambercars` was presented to Sir Jackie Stewart OBE at a recent mechanics reunion luncheon at Mercedes-Benz World, Brooklands. The whole collection is sold by numerous motorsport merchandise outlets and high-street gift shops. It includes team figures at £20.00 and cars at £35.
